Blues stay put with picks No. 11, 15 following NHL draft lottery
It was the likely outcome, but the Blues did not move up in the draft following the lottery on Tuesday night.
The Blues will remain with picks No. 11 (their own selection) and 15 (Detroit's pick from the Justin Faulk trade) in this summer's draft, while Toronto won the No. 1 pick and San Jose the No. 2 pick.
'I believe in the plan that we have': What does Blues direction look like amid transition?
By the time July 1 rolls around, the Blues' path will have already been chosen.
See, July 1 is when Alexander Steen officially takes over general manager duties from Doug Armstrong (who is sticking around as president of hockey operations). But that will be after Armstrong runs the Blues’ draft and sets the stage for free agency to open on July 1.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Matthew DeFranks and Nathan Mills talk about the end of the Blues' disappointing season that was their third in the last four years with a playoff berth.
Worthy: 'Difference maker' Dylan Holloway officially becomes part of Blues core, inks deal
Initially, I wanted to buy into the idea that Blues forward Dylan Holloway would push his teammate Jordan Kyrou to another level, bring out an added hunger in Kyrou that might raise Kyrou’s game.
Now, I’m resigned to the notion that Holloway just might have taken Kyrou’s place as cornerstone piece of the Blues core. If so, I believe that’ll be a win for the franchise.
