ST. LOUIS — A $1.2 billion plan to revitalize a neglected industrial strip south of downtown has hit a second delay, leading to concerns from city development officials on the project’s future.

Factory reset: With a $25 million grant, the St. Louis region plans to build an advanced manufacturing innovation center and train more people for manufacturing careers. David Nicklaus and Jim Gallagher say the grant is timely and shows that the region has its act together on economic development.
Gateway South's first phase now will comprise 250,000 square feet — less than quarter of the 1.2 million square feet initially planned.
