During an outing against a lefty-loaded Royals lineup, Leahy used his change-up a season-high 16 times. It helped him neutralize Kansas City en route to a career-high six innings.
Right-hander Andre Pallante recorded the Cardinals' fourth straight quality start and upped the ante by becoming the first Cardinals pitcher this season to record an out in the seventh inning.
The Cardinals could not come up with a three-game series sweep of the Royals as they were held to no runs on five hits in a 2-0 loss Sunday.
